Up cycled rope

Standard

I found a cowboy rope that had been abandoned and decided to use it as a wreath on my front porch. I loved the colors in the rope, hombre from pink to blue to purple. I ran into Hobby Lobby, one of my favorite stores, and picked up four simple items, all on sale for half off! The wreath cost me less that $10 to make.

What a joy. It looks great on my front porch gate and the rope certainly ties into the ranch here. It took me less than thirty minutes to create.

Busy Bee…….

Standard

I have been so busy lately with spring, getting gardens ready for veggies and flowers, painting, landscaping, and tons of projects.

This is one of my most recent projects, a fairy house for my grand daughters. There was this old rotten tree stump along the edge of the pond. Tired of looking at it I decided one day to make it into a fairy house. I collected things on the ranch, scrap wood, plumbing pipe, sticks, moss and hardware.

I finished it in two days and it was about two weeks before the grand daughters discovered it. So thrilled they were speechless. They are a bit miffed that they can’t get the door opened, I screwed it shut. They don’t understand why the fairies lock the door….

Getting out of the wind

Standard

Today’s blessing came with feathers…….

Victoria Feathers

Today is extremely blustery and possibly the coldest day of the winter here in Central Texas. School closings and delays, a first this year.

I opened my blinds to see the damage on my flowers beds and found I had seven visitors. They must have flown in to get out of the weather. We already have two adult Egyptian Geese and their seven babies. I hope these ducks stay. I get so much joy watching them. Oh yah, my plants are fine…..

Visitors dropped in to get shelter from the storm. Visitors dropped in to get shelter from the storm.

Reflections

Standard

Have you ever been so insecure in yourself that you change to be what that person sees you as, or to please that person? Or do you feel secure in yourself and stand tall? Do you let them see themselves through your eyes or do you wear blinders as to their faults? Are you the candle or the mirror?
I shimmer in your light, I am your honesty
You stand before me and gauge yourself
in my eyes
Insignificant, you quiver, flicker,
waver until you burn yourself outI mourn your loss, you will be missed
I am fickle, I take on the persona of the
next light that stands before me
I am their honesty, I shimmer in their light

A candle burning itself out, sputtering.

Perhaps I Can Sleep

Standard

We danced across the lawn
You urged me to look into the shadows
that fell across my life
You graciously lit your lamp on my darkness
and took away my fear

I shared with you my secrets, bared my soul
I stood emotionally naked before you
You judged me not
I climb into bed exhausted
Perhaps I can sleep
You turn out the light
as you duck behind a cloud
Goodnight Moon

Collecting Stars

Standard

I went outside to gather stars, to keep them in a bottle
I raised my arms up to the sky, and then I thought why bother
I’ll leave these jewels  up in the sky for everyone to share
The diamonds on black velvet for collectors everywhere

I am a collector of blessings. I would like to be a collector of stars, however, I leave them in the sky for everyone to share.
